Moustafa Al-Hatter

The DC Internet Directory
The DC editors have completed a revision of the DC Internet Directory. http://digitalconsciousness.net/directory/ Artists, collectors and their representatives, as well as others with an interest in contemporary art such as curators, critics and printmakers use the Directory. It is divided into several categories including Resources -- Artist representation and services, Artist Listings, Museums, Galleries and Search Engines -- with a focus on art.

The Directory presents sites by rank based on their usefulness, technical quality and the artistic merit of their content. The editors purged sites that were not up to high standards, that had excessive load time or advertisements, that used script or code that opened pop up or other windows or that otherwise interfered with viewer control. Some sites fit more than one category. For example, several contained artist resources, such as image hosting, and a call for artists, as well as artist listings, a search engine and galleries. In those cases the single most appropriate category was chosen.

Moustafa Al-Hatter
Moustafa Al-Hatter is the December 2002 Artist of the Month. Al-Hatter has been painting during his entire life. He was born in Cairo in 1948. Since 1983, he has held diplomatic positions in several countries, in Africa, Europe and Latin America. He has also traveled to many countries around the world and feels that his artistic abilities and techniques have developed and enriched through his trips in which he has enjoyed the culture of other countries.

He has exhibited in various galleries and museums around the world, and has apeared in various magazines and newspaper articles. He believes that art is life; there is no ending or finishing point, just a continual process. He captures those magical moments of life, from the obvious that can be seen with the eye, to the visionary that is perceived by the spirit.

At the beginning of his career he was deeply influenced by the great masters of European painters, mainly post-renaissance ones. A great change in his path took place in Venezuela in 1993. In the Caribbean, he discovered the tropical lights and colors which allowed him to accomplish a major change in his style. He offers an amazing lyricism by acrylic colors, graded from warm to cool, as well as from light to dark, weaving the layers together to form a unique impressionistic signature.
